Best Outdoor Photo Locations in Hudson, NH: A Photographer’s Guide

Looking for beautiful outdoor photography locations in Hudson, New Hampshire? Here are the top spots for family portraits, engagement photos, and scenic sessions—recommended by a local photographer with 18+ years of experience.

As the owner of I Pictured This photography studio in Hudson, I’ve photographed families at dozens of outdoor locations throughout Southern New Hampshire. After nearly two decades behind the camera, I’ve learned which spots offer the best lighting, backgrounds, and seasonal beauty.

Whether you’re planning family portraits, engagement photos, or senior pictures, these Hudson-area locations deliver stunning results year-round.

1. Benson Park – Hudson’s Premier Photo Location

Address: 28 Kimball Hill Road, Hudson, NH 03051
Best for: Family portraits, engagement photos, senior portraits
Seasons: Spring through fall (April-November)
Why I love it: This is my absolute favorite outdoor location in Hudson.

What Makes Benson Park Special

Benson Park offers incredible variety in one location. You’ll find:

  •        Open fields with tall grasses (perfect for golden hour portraits)
  •        Wooded trails with dappled sunlight filtering through trees
  •        Historic stone structures that add architectural interest
  •        Seasonal wildflowers in spring and summer
  •        Stunning fall foliage in September and October

Photographer’s tip: Arrive 1-2 hours before sunset for the best natural lighting. The open fields on the western side of the park catch beautiful golden light in late afternoon.

Best Times to Photograph at Benson Park

  •        Spring (April-May): Fresh green foliage, blooming flowers
  •        Summer (June-August): Lush greenery, wildflowers in fields
  •        Fall (September-November): Peak foliage typically mid-October
  •        Winter: Possible but limited; snow can be beautiful but park is less accessible

Parking: Free parking available. The park can get busy on weekends, so weekday sessions offer more privacy.

2. Greeley Park – Nashua’s Hidden Gem

Address: 100 Concord Street, Nashua, NH 03064
Best for: Family portraits, children’s photos, romantic engagement sessions
Seasons: Year-round
Distance from Hudson: 10 minutes

Why Greeley Park Works for Photography

Just a short drive from Hudson, Greeley Park offers:

  •        Mature trees creating natural frames and shade
  •        Well-maintained gardens with seasonal flowers
  •        Open lawn areas for active family shots
  •        Walking paths perfect for candid, movement-based photos
  •        Pond and bridge for romantic engagement photos

Photographer’s tip: The gardens near the main entrance are particularly beautiful in late spring (May-June) when flowers are in full bloom.

Best Features by Season

  •        Spring: Flowering trees, tulips, daffodils
  •        Summer: Rose garden in full bloom, lush green lawns
  •        Fall: Colorful foliage, warm afternoon light
  •        Winter: Snow-covered landscapes, evergreen trees

Accessibility: Paved paths make this location wheelchair and stroller-friendly—great for families with young children or elderly relatives.

3. Mines Falls Park – Nashua’s Waterfront Beauty

Address: Multiple entrances; main entrance at 41 Tilton Park Drive, Nashua, NH 03060
Best for: Nature-focused portraits, engagement photos, active families
Seasons: Spring through fall
Distance from Hudson: 15 minutes

What Mines Falls Offers Photographers

This expansive park along the Nashua River provides:

  •        Waterfront views with the Merrimack River as backdrop
  •        Wooded trails with natural, organic settings
  •        Bridge locations for architectural interest
  •        Varied terrain from riverside to forest
  •        Wildlife (occasionally deer, birds, turtles)

Photographer’s tip: The trails can be uneven, so wear comfortable shoes. Sessions here work best for families with older children or couples who enjoy walking.

Lighting Considerations

The tree canopy creates beautiful dappled light but can be challenging in harsh midday sun. Schedule sessions: - Early morning (8-10am): Soft, even light - Late afternoon (5-7pm): Warm golden hour light

Best seasons: Late spring through early fall. Trails can be muddy in early spring and buggy in summer—bring bug spray!

4. Robinson Pond – Hudson’s Peaceful Waterfront

Address: Robinson Road, Hudson, NH 03051
Best for: Sunset photos, engagement sessions, small families
Seasons: Spring through fall
Why it’s special: Gorgeous sunset reflections on the water

Robinson Pond Photography Opportunities

This quieter Hudson location offers:

  •        Water reflections for artistic compositions
  •        Sunset views over the pond
  •        Natural shoreline with rocks and vegetation
  •        Peaceful, private atmosphere

Photographer’s tip: This location is best for smaller groups (1-4 people) due to limited space. Perfect for engagement photos or intimate family sessions.

Timing: Schedule sessions 1 hour before sunset for the most dramatic lighting and water reflections.

5. Hudson Town Common

Address: Central Street (near Town Hall), Hudson, NH 03051
Best for: Quick sessions, downtown backdrop, seasonal events
Seasons: Year-round
Why consider it: Convenient downtown location

Town Common Features

The Hudson Town Common provides:

  •        Gazebo for structured portraits
  •        Open green space for casual family photos
  •        Seasonal decorations (holiday lights in winter)
  •        Easy accessibility with nearby parking

Photographer’s tip: This location works well for shorter sessions or when you want a classic New England town backdrop. Best during off-peak hours to avoid crowds.

Hello! Welcome to your blog post. Blogging can be hugely important for your website’s SEO success and for keeping customers coming back for more!  You can use your blog to share about business updates, recent shoots, cool new products, and all kinds of other things.

But it doesn’t have to be all business all the time! Readers will love to get to know the “real you!” The person, artist, and entrepreneur behind your great business. Don’t be afraid to show your personality while your write! Blogging is meant to be sort of informal, which helps connect with readers on a personal level.

So, what are you going to write about? A good way to start is by sharing your recent work.

Have you done any cool shoots lately? (I know you have, you all-star photographer!) I bet you have loads of images just waiting to be shared with your adoring fans.

Making this kind of post is really easy! There’s even a template you can follow to write a quick blog that follows all of the “Blogging Best Practices.” It goes like this:

Start With A Really Cool Title

Your title should be about 6-10 words and describe your post in an interesting way. Keywords are important, but they should be your secondary priority.

“Winter Wonderland Engagement Shoot In Downtown Raleigh”

Something like that so set the mood, hook readers, and give a little information about your shoot. This will also help people searching on Google find you if they’re looking for a specific venue, location, or photography style!

Next, Add Words And Images

You don’t have to write a novel! Just 1-2 paragraphs of text should do. Focus on the “who, what, where, when, and why” of the post to keep it simple.

“Had a ball shooting this engagement photography session with Alex & Sam in Center City Park! The weather was just right, and the energy of this sweet couple just shines through!”

Nothing too fancy. You just need some words to ground readers, set the stage, and give your post some searchable text. That way Google match your post to people who are searching for a great photographer like you.

As for photos, limit yourself to 10-15 per post. If you want to share more, link readers to a gallery to see all the awesomeness.

Finish With A Link!

Remember: No Dead Ends! At the end of your blog, give the reader something to do next. Whether that’s to see a gallery, book a session, or simply read another blog,  give them a link — preferably a big old button…like this one!

Marketing & Design

Okay, your cool blog is done. Now all that’s left is to publish and get readers. Think of blogging as part of your marketing strategy – because it really is.

Blogs help people find you through search engines. But you can also share your blogs on social media platforms to get people ooh-ing and ahh-ing over your work on your website. The goal is to show them around the place, dazzle them with your work, and hopefully they’ll end up booking their own sessions – or signing up for updates! Sharing is easy. Just click “Share” and post to the social media of your choice. Done and done.

Our last notes are about design. Both for your overall blog layout and for each post.

  1. People are visual creatures... but you know that already. A beautiful blog will encourage people to stay & read more! Your blog comes with a bunch of layout options so you can create a gorgeous experience for your readers.

  2. If you write a longer article, try to break up the words with images peppered throughout. Photos make for a more enjoyable read!

  3. If you have extra widgets, you can easily embed them in the footer or sidebar of your blog. Putting in a subscription form, for instance, is a great idea to keep people hooked on reading your blog!

That’s about it! You now know everything you need to make a great blog for your business! Good luck, champ. I know you’ve got this. But if you ever have any questions, drop us a line, and we’ll be glad to help!

Happy blogging!

Xoxo,
